20 Important Factors You Must Know Before You Choose Blogging As A Career

Let us take us a look one-by-one what all the factors involved.

1. Growth of Blogging career

There are roughly 2 million blog posts published daily. This means 60 million posts are published in a month and billions of posts in a year. This proves that the growth of blogging as a career is way too high that we can’t even imagine.

According to statistics, 31.7 million bloggers are there in the United States.

This fascinated me a lot and I chose to blog as my career option.

Initially, you will require a lot of niche research on which topic you going to write.

Although all the online earning resources give you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world if you choose to blog as a career, it will improve your writing skills, you can be more creative and blogging can give you a passive income lifelong.

3. Social Media Engagement is necessary for a blogger

You must have thousands of followers on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other social media.

But do they follow you? Seriously?

Have you ever get appreciated by your followers?

Well, this might seem awkward to you but the fact is that a blogging career can make you a lifesaver for many of your followers.

Blogging as a career is a platform where you give solutions to the people and people would love to follow for more solutions from you.

When you solving someone’s problem, they would like to connect with you on social media.

You can write blogs about various problems your followers are facing in their day-to-day life and you can engage them in your social media accounts.

This can be a win-win situation for both.

4. Be Your Own Boss

If you have ever worked in a company, you might already know that people hate their jobs mostly because they don’t like their boss.

Some of them not likely to work under anyone and they want to open their venture or business so they can become their boss.

If you choose to blog as a career, it is fairly possible. You are your own boss.

Initially, you have to do it all alone but later on, you can build your team who can help you grow your blogging career.

5. Discipline is required

There is no doubt that blogging career needs a ton of discipline.

You have to manage your time for giving at least 3-4 hours in blogging if you want to earn a good amount of money from blogging.

Tip: Maintain a diary in which you can write your ideas and topics in which you want to write a blog post. Make the most important bullet points. When you get time for blogging, those bullet points can help you in writing your article easily and within 3 to 4 hours you can write your blog post.

As per the research, a successful blogger writes and publishes an article in about 3 hours and 57 minutes.

6. Passion is necessary

Most of the bloggers say that they are passionate about writing on a topic.

But we all know that money is the driving factor due to which more and more bloggers are joining in the blogger community.

You must have heard

Follow Your Passion, Money Follows You

This statement is true. There is no doubt,

But there is a variation.

In my opinion, If you dream of having a lavish lifestyle and you feel passionate about earning thousands of dollars per month, you can easily find ways legal ways to earn that much amount of money,

If there will be no income in blogging, more than 80% of bloggers would leave blogging(this is just my assumption).

Money is Power.

You can build your passion for blogging in a year or two and you can choose blogging as your career option.

7. Good Writing Skills is required

You need to have good writing skills if you want to choose blogging as a career option.

A good speaker doesn’t mean he/she is also a good writer.

Blogging as a Career

But, as we all know,

Practice makes a man perfect

With practice, you can surely become a good writer.

If I can do it, you can do it as well.

You just need to start as early as possible.

8. Consistency is required for a blogging career

Consistency is the main factor why so many bloggers are successful nowadays.

Some of the other days, your consistency will pay you well.

If you follow consistency in blogging as a career, there is no doubt that you find yourself around successful bloggers in a couple of years.

Then, you can thank me.

9. For blogging as a career, you must have the Ability to Adapt to Change

Every year, Google carries out its algorithmic update. Pro bloggers can adapt to the changes from these updates. These changes only affect the mediocre bloggers.

You should not practice shortcut methods to rank higher on Google or get higher traffic. You just need to keep learning and evolving your website authority and keep an eye on these updates as well.

With the increase in the number of bloggers, competition is increasing every day. You just need to maintain the uniqueness and keep an edge so that you can face competition with ease.

10. Freedom

Blogging career gives you the freedom to work in pajamas. Every single online money making method can give you this freedom and blogging is one of them.

There is no other job so comfortable like this. Blogging career gives you the freedom to work from anywhere in the world.

When you choose to blog, you can manage your time table. You have the freedom of working 18 hours a day or not working in a week. You can publish your blog posts relaxing near a sea beach in Goa.

What else do you want? You have the freedom to work from anywhere, and you are earning hundreds of dollars as well.

11. Stay Away From Black hat Tactics

Black hat tactics might give you success for a while, but it is detrimental in the long run.

Some of the common black hat tactics are article spinning, spam link building by hacking websites and installing links, private link networks, paid links, etc.

I would suggest you stay away from these black hat tactics if you want to be successful in blogging and if you choose to blog as a career option.

There is no shortcut to success

12. No Overnight Success in blogging career

There is nothing like an overnight success in blogging career.

You might be thinking that you publish your post, tomorrow you get traffic, and the day after tomorrow, Google is ready to pay you for that. This mindset is wrong.

If you are already a blogger, and you are not getting enough traffic you have imagined.

I would suggest you to keep trying and trying, keep posing new blog posts, keep updating your old posts, and you will get the success that you deserve.

13. Building something that’s your own

Starting your website in is free.

If you are planning to start blogging in then you might know that is owned by Google. Your blogging career would not be secure in blogger platform if you violate any of the Google compliance.

The same applies to WordPress once Google detects the spam on your website but in WordPress, you will get penalized whereas in, your website will be banned by Google and you will not get access to the same website.

If you are doing everything right, there is no doubt that you can earn a lot of money.

Most of the successful blogger started their first blog in, got approval from Adsense, and then they migrated to WordPress.

However, security from hackers is provided by Google but you have no option to install plugins and optimize SEO using plugins.

Whereas, building a website in WordPress is your property. You buy domain and hosting of your choice.

You can download themes from WordPress, change appearances, install plugins for security, optimize your blog posts SEO plugins, and many more things you can do in WordPress.

14. Appreciating Returns in blogging career

If you are doing the smart work in blogging, surely you will get the appreciating returns in the form of money, fame, and authority to your website.

For the initial 1 to 2 years was never easy for all the successful bloggers we know today. Earlier, there were no technological advancements that we enjoy today.

With advancements in technology, the competition also got higher, and to survive in this competitive world will not going to be easy for anyone like you and me.

Tip: Once you get the required traffic, the authority to your website, build your brand value, the money will follow you. Then, a blogging career will be the best part of your life.

15. Uncertain Income

There will always be uncertainty in your cash flows. If you are referring to a seasonal product, your income will be higher in the seasons favorable to your product, then there comes a downside in your income.

If not a seasonal product, there will surely be ups and downs in your income monthly. Every business runs this way.

There is no fixed income in any business. So, you must be ready and device your strategy to cope up with this situation.

Tip: You can develop your website in such a way that you can get several income streams like selling e-books, online courses, affiliate links so that if one way doesn’t give you income, in other ways, you can generate income.

16. Patience is required in blogging career

As we all know,

Patience is the key to success

The same applies when you do blogging because blogging career can take a lot of time depending upon your hardship, your efforts, and your smart work.

If you are planning to kick start a blogging career, keep this in mind that you have to work 1 to 2 years without any return. Once you keep pushing forward, keep learning blogging, and applying your skills in blogging, success will just be waiting for you next door.

Keep patience, some or the other day, you surely be successful.

Tip: Engage more and more with the blogger community. Learn something new about blogging skills every day. Take a break from blogging for a day or two but be patient. Don’t quit.

17. Motivation is required

When you choose to blog as a career and you are not getting the required results, you might lose motivation and you quit blogging career when you just closer to get successful in your blogging career.

Motivation plays a major factor in blogging. Writing something on a white screen, working 10 hours a day with no result is very hard to keep continuing blogging career. Most of the bloggers leave their blogging journey just because of demotivation.

So how can you get motivation?

Tip: Make a successful blogger an idol for you. Follow him and his team everywhere on social media. Look what he does differently from you that you are not doing. Try to meet successful bloggers and you will find yourself successful in the coming years.

18. Work/Life Balance

Blogging as a Career

Do you know how many hours the successful bloggers are working to learn new skills and earn more and more?

A successful blogger works for at least 40 to 50 hours a week on average. So, it might be difficult for them to spend quality time with their family.

So, if you are planning to start your blogging journey, like in every business, blogging career also demands time for the better growth of your website.

Tip: Work/Life balance would not be difficult for you if you know time management. You can divide your time for growing your business in blogging and spare some time for your family.

19. Full-time or Part-time Blogging as a career

You can start blogging as part-time and as you grow your business, when all your monthly expenses are covered by your blogging income, then you can opt for doing it full-time.

The income you get from blogging is uncertain, you cannot leave your 9 to 5 job and doing blogging full-time.

Tip: Give proper time to blogging. Learn new sources of income every day. Start blogging as a side hustle. When you start earning double or triple times you are earning from a job, you can easily leave your job and opt for blogging as your full-time career.

20. Bring Variation in your Niche selection for blogging as a career

Don’t just follow any niche that successful bloggers are working on. Select your niche as per your interests. A niche selection can determine your success or failure.

A good niche for u will be that in which you can think of various topics and easily write 40-50 posts.

Before planning to start blogging as a career, take enough time to select your niche.

Tip: Make two columns. In the first column, write down all the topics that you are interested in. In the second column, write down all the topics in which you write 40 posts easily. Compare both of the columns. The common topic in both the column will be your niche. If there is more than one topic in common, you can start different websites for both the niches, but first, start one website, develop that website until you get sufficient income.
